Get Unready with Me
In a society that fears growing old and ageing , many of us look to treatments that reverse and prevent our skin from sagging and wrinkling. I created this costume and performance piece as a celebration of this natural experience humans go through to show the beauty in these features that appear as we age.
Concept and Process
This process involved the creation of a body suit using a nude lycra fabric, painted with a silicone paint to create the wrinkling. This was then sceniced with freckles and ageing spots. The suit was then sewn together to make the sagging parts disappear. In the performance the old woman cuts the string, allowing her sagging skin to be released.
